THE MEANING BEHIND THE NAME
We named our home Olla de Oro — “Pot of Gold” — because for us, this place represents clarity, healing, and what’s possible when you live with intention.
After going through a difficult chapter as a family, we felt a strong pull to refocus on what truly mattered. As part of our healing process, we each wrote 20 “I AM” statements — declarations of who we wanted to become and the life we wanted to create. One statement showed up on both of our lists:
“I am the owner of a home in Costa Rica.”
In August 2024, we began reading those statements aloud together, every morning and every night. That rhythm created alignment — and soon, momentum.
We had been visiting Costa Rica and the Playa Hermosa area for almost a decade. We already had our Thanksgiving Costa Rica trip planned and decided to meet with a local realtor, just to explore what that dream could look like. One of the first homes we toured sat above this one. As we stood on the patio, a rainbow broke through the clouds, so close you could almost touch it — its end landing directly in front of where we were standing. We took it as a sign, at the time, that Playa Hermosa was where we needed to be.
The next day, we toured more homes — one of them was THIS home. We could clearly envision ourselves here: time with family, meaningful connection, rest, and restoration. When we walked out to the patio we realized THIS home was where the rainbow had ended the day before. We knew that was our sign.
By February 2025, that I AM statement became a reality.
We named it Olla de Oro to honor that moment — the one that reminded us that something beautiful is often waiting just on the other side of a challenge. We held onto hope. We created space for joy. We hope you feel that here, too!
Serenity awaits at the end of the rainbow.
Note: When you stay in our home, you will find a black journal. We would love to hear YOUR story too!
