Activities We Love

Playa Hermosa Beach
Just 5 minutes from the house, this serene, uncrowded beach is known for its calm waters and soft gray sand. It's the perfect spot for swimming or simply relaxing without the crowds.

Nearby Beaches
Other local beaches within 20 minutes include Playa Panama, Playa Coco, and Playa Ocotal (a beautiful black sand beach).

Surfing in Tamarindo
About an hour away, Tamarindo offers world-class surfing. You’ll find plenty of board rentals and lessons—we recommend
Iguana Surf.

Bonus: Beach massages are available—about $40 for 30 minutes or $80 for an hour.
Our favorite local bite: Soda Buffet El Estero

ATVs & Side-by-Sides

Our go-to adventure! Depending on the season, tours include forest trails, waterfalls, or hidden beaches.
Tico Tours, located just outside Hermosa Heights, is a solid pick.

Fishing & Yacht Charters

From deep sea fishing to snorkeling or sunset cruises, there’s a charter for everyone.
We recommend:

Adventure Parks & Hot Springs
Hacienda Guachipelin at Rincón de la Vieja (1.5 hrs): Zip lining, tubing, horseback riding, hot springs, and mud baths. Shuttle service is available, but self-drive is quicker and cheaper.

Diamante Eco Adventure Park (30 min): Zip lines, animal sanctuary, chocolate/coffee workshops, and more.

Food & Markets

Groceries
Super Luperon (Playa Hermosa): Just 200 meters from Hermosa Heights. Small but well-stocked with essentials and a large liquor selection.
Auto Mercado (Playas del Coco): 15-minute drive. Larger supermarket with everything you need.
